Polestar Experience – exercise is just one piece of the puzzle!
Learn more about the Polestar Life Essentials and the current paradigm shift in healthcare by Alexander Bohlander and Shelly Power and the POLESTAR Team Europe.
Herne, November 24-25th 2018
Joseph Pilates wrote that whole-body health can be achieved through exercise, proper nutrition, adequate sleep, good hygiene, plenty of sunshine and fresh air and a balance in life of work, rest and relaxation. Dr. Brent Anderson, founder of POLESTAR®, developed the Polestar Life Essentials to measure how balanced our lives really are.
THE POLESTAR EXPERIENCE is a two-day conference aimed at exploring exciting opportunities in the new and living paradigm of health and consciousness. Polestar Pilates has been at the cutting edge of health and physical activity science since it was founded in 1998.
This experience offers personal discovery, interactive discussions, observation, healing and experiential learning. It was developed especially for those who are interested in changing themselves and others.
During this experience, our usual balanced framework between exciting lectures, gripping workshops and creative movement classes will be explored a little further.

More than Core!
More than Core* is designed by Annemieke Jonas, who was challenged with hypermobility for years. “Becoming stiffer” has been a research for the last years and More than Core* became the product of this research. More than Core* is very much inspired by the movement culture of Ido Portal and gives some great insights for the Pilates world.
More than Core* gives the understanding of full body congruency. Congruency is a term explained mostly for optimum joint organisation. In the concepts of More than Core* we explain congruency as the organisation of mobility, stability and the placement of body parts. Under whatever circumstances or dealing with whatever forces. Then the logical consequence of full body congruency is an activated core!
We will test full body congruency during calculated and uncalculated movements. A Pilates training is pretty predictable. With More than Core we are also interested in smart and functional solutions during unpredictable movements and new movement tasks. These challenges consist of locomotion (walking, squatting, crawling, rolling), hanging series, partner work, we will increase speed and repetition and thus increase breath and heart-rate.
Physiotherapist specialized in manual therapy and Vojta therapy, working in her own physiotherapy practice since 1999, since 2007 with affiliated Pilates studio. Polestar Pilates educator for Studio / rehabilitation and for Mat education of physiotherapists in cooperation with a association of Physiotherapists.
Help for the hips: Pilates rehabilitation for hip problems
Using these special problems as examples, the possibilities of physiotherapy using Pilates training with and without equipment are demonstrated. Pilates exercises for hip pathologies to improve mobility, alignment and strength in the lower extremities.
Founder of Equilibre Pilates’s studio, Pilates and gyrotonic® teacher, Polestar Pilates educator France, Shiatsu practitioner.
Yaelle started a journey as a contemporary dancer in France, England and Brazil. It’s in Brazil in the year of 1999, that she met the Pilates method with Alice Becker (polestar pilates licencee for South America) and Brent Anderson. She was a polestar educator in Brazil for 2 years when she came back to Paris in 2005. Yaelle trained to become a gyrotonic teacher and opened her own Pilates studio in 2008 in Paris. Since then, she has been active with Polestar Pilates in Europe and collaborated with Alexander Bohlander. In 2016, Yaelle graduated from the therapeutic school of Shiatsu of Paris, exploring Chinese medicine and manual therapy, marrying these techniques to the Pilates method principles. Yaelle is a body and movement lover, who sees Pilates method as a life’s philosophy:
Looking for a subtle balance between body, mind and emotions creating organisation, strength and suppleness.
Exploring your bodylandscape:
We will take a journey through the body based on the Pilates repertoire, bringing along knowledge of Chinese medicine and embryology, to observe it under a new perspective. The body is developed as geological layers, letting emerge symbologic spaces like mountains, fountains, prairies etc. creating a beautiful and complex corporal ecosystem.
We’ll move through this ecosystem together, enlightened by my experience of Pilates, expanded with somatic techniques, manual therapy and contact improvisation concepts. This workshop will lead us to experience our capacity and open it to poetry, fluidity and connectiveness, guiding us to a healthy movement and a conscious body.
“The mind, when housed in a healthful body, possess a glorious sense of power.”

She was co-founder of Via Pilates Berlin and has been self-employed with Marion Röhrig-Pilates since 2012. Marion’s sensitive and lively manner make her teaching an enriching experience.
Disover your own silence and liveliness
Sensing, feeling, perceiving.
With devotion and mindfulness, we turn to the Pilates exercises and the breath, discover our inner strength through conscious movement. In an awake, meditative state we mobilize self-healing powers and connect with life.

Moshé meets Joseph:
In this practical workshop we will explore how aspects of the Feldenkrais Method can enrich our Pilates teaching skills.
Feldenkrais is a learning method which uses the neuroplasticity of the brain to encourage lasting change in our movement patterns. Important aspects of the method are increasing awareness, self-responsibility and questioning ‘how’ we are learning.
In practical examples we will explore how we can incorporate these aspects in our Pilates lessons. I hope you will leave this workshop with new ideas und new perspectives on common movements as well as on how we are teaching movement.
“What would Moshé Feldenkrais and Joseph Pilates have talked about if they had met?”
